										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Adamawa state is a state in the North-East geographical zone of Nigeria. It shares borders with Gombe, Borno, and Taraba, and forms part of the national Cameroon. There are lots of beautiful things to know about Adamawa state Yola and its history.</p>
<p>One interesting fact to know about Adamawa State is that it is the most heterogeneous state in Nigeria with over 100 indigenous ethnic groups. It was created in 1991 when the former Gongola state was divided into Adamawa and Taraba states by General Ibrahim Badamsi Babangida&#8217;s military regime.</p>

<p>It is significant to know that Adamawa is the eighth (8<sup>th</sup>) largest state in the area and the thirteenth (13<sup>th</sup>) least populous state with an estimated population of about 4.25 million as of 2016. Adamawa State is majorly composed of high mountains, rivers, and wildlife parks among others. Located in the south is the Gashaka Gumti National Park a large wildlife park that houses populations of African buffalo, Bushbuck Patas Monkey, Giant Pangolin, and Hippopotamus.</p>
<p>Adamawa state has been inhabited for years by several ethnic groups including the Bwatiye, Bata, Bali, Mbula-Bwazza, Kamwe, Jibu, Kilba, Marghi, and Mumuye etc. the state is also religiously diverse with about 50% of the population is Muslim and 40% is Christian.</p>

<p>Before Adamawa became a state in Nigeria, Adamawa was a subordinate kingdom of the Sultanate of Sokoto which included northern Cameroon. The rulers of the state bear the title emir.</p>
<p>The name “Adamawa”  came from the founder of the kingdom, Modibo Adama a regional leader of the Fulani Jihad. It was administratively formed in 1991 from the northeastern former Gongola state.</p>
<p>Adamawa state shares borders with Borno, Taraba, and Cameroon. It is also dominated by the Fulanis, Mumuye, Chamba, Kapsiki, Higi, Kilba, Gude, Hausa, Margi, Wurkum, and Bata people.</p>
<p>Economically, Adamawa is known for its cattle markets, cash crops, groundnuts, beans, rice, maize, and sorghum. Fishing is also one of the main sources of income in the riverine areas. The state has about 1.5 million cattle and 64 grazing reserves. Also, the state is a thriving livestock industry.</p>
